Distinctive Heritage Pieces
Japanese low oak ottoman with brass insets for the Cabin House. Made in South Africa.
What makes a space feel lived are room pieces that have soul, permanence and a story. These are the one of a kind objects that make a space come to life.
I’m incredibly proud to work with talented craftsman across a range of disciplines to create original pieces for the projects I’m involved with. Whether it’s custom cabinetry, distinctive cork wall panels, a raw pine dining table, bespoke Spanish front doors, or custom Japanese lamps, the process of creating pieces with talented makers is something I most look forward to on each project.
Monterey Bedroom Side Tables for Casa Desierto
Monterey style furniture was designed in California around the 1930’s; popular for it’s distinctive rough finish, this furniture style was often found in Spanish homes. Finding original Monterey pieces in great condition that are also of size, are hard to come by, and often don’t work in today’s spaces. For example, Monterey beds of the 30’s were built for a different generation of people, who were smaller and required less bed space. In order to achieve the Monterey look, we partnered with a local craftsman in Los Angeles to recreate Monterey interior doors, beds and nightstands. These pieces together enable a home to feel cohesive and of a different time.
